Wow, what an amazing experience! Just over a week ago I attended the Baby Summit in sunny Queensland. I learned & was inspired from the very best photographers in the industry & came away with a lot more skills & ideas & so many new newborn & baby props! (And I have more on the way, as they wouldn't all fit in my suitcase!) ;)
One of the things I was reminded of was, that being a photographer we do more than take photos… we capture moments and make memories last forever.
I was reminded of the importance of ACTUAL photographs.
While digital images are great for sharing with the online world, I often hear from friends, and clients that people just don’t print their photos anymore. We all know that although digital images are great, hard drives sometimes do fail, computers, laptops or phones can break or be stolen, and USB’s get lost. I’m the same, I have hard drives & backup drives taking up so much space in my home too! But what about real photographs? It’s sad to say, but when someone passes away, what do we do & where do we go? Most often, we get out the box of photographs and go through them one by one looking and remembering the memories associated with them.
Photographs are a legacy. Photographs remind us of moments that are almost forgotten if not for the image printed on the paper.
Unfortunately, none of my grandparents are still with us, I treasure the photographs I have of them. I love the photographs I’m with them too, and I especially love the ones of my children with them.
Have you had a photo session recently? Don’t put it off... As I heard from the amazingly talented, Sue Bryce… “You’re never going to be skinnier or younger!” So just do it now. Book in a photography session & print your photographs. Bring your grandparents to have photographs with your brand new baby, make the time to have a family session. Just do it!
I’m inspired to still give my clients beautiful digital images, but I’m also changing my packages a little. So now, all of my packages (except one) will include a couple of printed matted photographs, ready for you to take home to put straight in a frame, or display as is, so you can enjoy them.
I’m also offering some other printed products in my packages such as albums now too. The 'Deluxe Album' I’ll be offering now is just stunning, and I’m looking forward to receiving my studio copy from the lab to share with you all!
So, the message of the day… PRINT your photos… BOOK a photography session, for yourself, your new baby, your children or your whole extended family! Photographs are a LEGACY, and it is such an honour and privilege for me to be able to capture a moment in time & create a legacy for your family to treasure.
